R.I.P Rosie 6/19/12
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our sweet Rosie, the lovely yellow lab girl. Rosie came into rescue very pregnant in August 2011 and gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies in September. She was heartworm positive, but we had to wait until her pups were weaned before we could start treatment. After the first round of treatment, she still tested positive for heartworm so we tried an alternative treatment and that seemed to do the job. However, she had a cough that never went away and our vet found that she had an enlarged heart and lung damage that was not reversible. She was given medication, but nothing seemed to make her better. She began to retain water and today started to cough up blood. It was clearly time to ease this beautiful girl out of this world and over the bridge. She was not alone and passed while surrounded by several long time members of our rescue group. We are all heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, loving girl. Rosie left behind a legacy of beautiful pups to carry on her sweet smile.
